Hand-cut sterling silver pendant, suspended on a silver snake chain. The colour was created using liver of sulphur. (This is one of my favourite designs, but as each piece is individually made they always look different!).
This pendant is inspired by the jewellery of ancient Egypt. I’m hoping to add some colour eventually, but I think the copper stands alone beautifully. (Apologies for the grey background – lack of decent lighting, photoshop ineptitude etc etc!).
I’ve also added some new pieces to my gallery, so please have a look!
I’m really pleased with this design. It looks like a find from ancient Greece, or perhaps Atlantis? It has a beautiful shape and sits very elegantly on the collarbone and the aqua green and blue are a perfect complement for the warm, rich tones of the copper.
I made this using 14 gauge copper wire, so the central piece is quite solid and weighty. To create the antique patina I heated it with a blow torch until it was a glowing cherry red. The resulting patina is dark and chalky, with hints of warm orange.
